Thermalright SG-850 850W 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular Power Supply :
Buying Guide & Review
White-themed builds have become a fixture of Pakistani PC culture, and matching the PSU to the rest of the build used to mean settling for fewer features. The Thermalright SG-850 850W 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular Power Supply removes that compromise by offering both black and white finishes on the same well-equipped unit.
Fully modular cabling, 80 PLUS Gold efficiency and a full suite of protection circuits back up the colour choice, so you are not paying a style tax to match your case.
Thermalright’s SG line sits above the TB-S series in its PSU catalogue, and the 850W model represents the higher-wattage end of that range for builders who need genuine headroom.
1. Why the Thermalright SG-850 Is a Smart Choice
Two Finishes, One Feature Set
Whether you pick the black or white version, you get exactly the same 850W Gold-rated, fully modular internals, so the colour choice is purely about matching your build rather than trading away performance.
Gold Efficiency at 850W
80 PLUS Gold certification at this wattage keeps running costs and wasted heat in check for a build powerful enough to run a current high-end GPU.
2. Design & Build
Fully Modular Cable Management
Every cable on the SG-850 is modular, so you only connect what your build needs, which keeps airflow cleaner and makes cable management noticeably easier than a non-modular PSU.
A Colour to Match Your Build
The white variant is a genuine option for the white-and-light-themed builds that are increasingly popular locally, while the black version suits the more traditional dark case aesthetic.
3. Thermalright SG-850 Specs Explained
850W for Serious Builds
850W comfortably covers a high-end CPU and GPU pairing together with room for additional storage and fans, without running the unit close to its rated capacity.
A Full Protection Suite
The SG-850 includes a complete set of protection circuits covering over power, over voltage, over temperature, over current, short circuit and under voltage conditions, giving the rest of your build a strong safety net.
4. Cooling & Noise
Cooling Sized for 850W
An 850W Gold-rated unit needs to move a meaningful amount of heat under sustained load, and the SG-850’s cooling is built around keeping that heat in check without excessive fan noise.
Balanced for Everyday Gaming
Most gaming sessions do not push an 850W PSU anywhere near its ceiling, so day-to-day noise levels should stay modest, with the fan only working harder during the most demanding moments.
5. Built-In Protection for Peace of Mind
OPP, OVP and OTP Coverage
Over power, over voltage and over temperature protection work together to shut the unit down safely rather than risk damage to itself or connected components if something goes wrong.
OCP, SCP and UVP Coverage
Over current, short circuit and under voltage protection round out the suite, covering the most common electrical fault scenarios a PSU can encounter over years of use.
6. Pakistan Market Perspective
A Real Option for White Builds
Finding a well-specified white PSU has historically been harder in Pakistan than finding a white case or cooler. The SG-850 closes that gap without forcing a compromise on power or efficiency.
Protection That Matters During Load-Shedding
A full protection suite is particularly valuable in a market where voltage fluctuations and UPS switchovers are common, since it gives the PSU a much better chance of absorbing an irregular event safely.
Summer-Ready Cooling
With room temperatures climbing well into the hot season across most of Pakistan, an 850W unit with properly engineered cooling has real margin for the warmer months rather than running close to its thermal limits.
7. Thermalright SG-850 Price in Pakistan & Value
Style and Substance Together
Getting fully modular cabling, Gold efficiency and a complete protection suite in a colour-matched unit is a combination that used to cost noticeably more from other brands.
What You Are Paying For
Checking the Thermalright SG-850 price in Pakistan against a plain black, non-modular Gold unit shows the extra value going into cable management, colour choice and the full protection circuitry.
A Reasonable Ask for the Feature Set
Given the choice of colour, the modular cabling and the full protection suite included, the SG-850 is priced fairly against comparable 850W Gold units on the market.
8. Who Should Buy the Thermalright SG-850?
A Great Fit For
Builders assembling a white or black-themed high-end system, anyone who wants fully modular cables at 850W, and buyers who prioritise a complete protection suite.
Consider Another PSU If
Your build needs less than 850W, or you are comfortable with fixed cabling and would rather save the budget elsewhere.
A Solid Long-Term Investment
Given the full protection suite and Gold efficiency on offer, the SG-850 is well suited to buyers who plan to keep their PC running reliably for several years.
Conclusion
The Thermalright SG-850 850W 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular Power Supply pairs fully modular cabling and Gold efficiency with a full OPP, OVP, OTP, OCP, SCP and UVP protection suite, available in either black or white to match your build.
For anyone building a high-end system around a specific colour scheme without wanting to compromise on power quality, the SG-850 is a well-rounded, dependable choice.
